Meet against Waynewood, B Meet and Todd Potts
Swimmers and Parents,
We have survived week 2! We are now 1-1 with congratulations to Waynewood for a hard fought win yesterday. The final score was Waynewood: 226.5, SHRA 193.5.
Event though we did not leave with a win, there were several positives to take away, the least of which is that we had FORTY best times yesterday - congratulations SHRA swimmers. Also, a couple SHRA records were broken; congrats to the 13/14 boys 100m medley relay team (Liam Redman, Aidan Grady, Gavin Prestholdt and Patrick Kirby) for setting a new record with the time of 58.45 and also to Liam for setting a new 13/14 boys 50m backstroke record with a time of 29.01
With all these best times on Saturday and I'm sure we will see more at our B Meet on Monday, please make sure your swimmer brings their necklace (if they received one last week) to practice on Friday and we will present shark teeth for this week's best times (first time best-timers will receive their necklace this week). If you want to help with shark teeth or have any questions regarding the same, please find Jamie on the deck during morning practice; she's there most days.
MONDAY: Tomorrow night's B meet is an intra-squad meet at home. We ask that your swimmer is at SHRA by 5pm. Please also log into swimtopia and sign up for events if you have not already; each swimmer may swim 2 events unless they are also swimming the IM, in which case, they may swim 3 events. The meet starts with kickboard/assisted freestyle and ends with IMs. If you want to swim the Todd Potts IM Invitational and don't have an entry time this is a great opportunity to get one! Speaking of Todd Potts, please register for it on swimtopia if you want to swim; we need to hand over all the names and events by noon on Tuesday.
We still need a lot of volunteers for Monday night. B meet times are an important data point for our A meet selections on Tuesdays so we do want our times to count and under NVSL rules, they can only count if we have a full set of deck officials. Please sign up.
Swim season is an intense 6 weeks and we are well on our way. I am really enjoying meeting all your kids and watching them progress.
See you at the pool!
Karen and Jamie
