A meet against Walden Glen, Pep Rally tonight, Relay Carnival and All-Stars and more

A meet against Walden Glen at Walden Glen

We will be traveling to Walden Glen (6126 Harmon Place, Springfield, VA 22152) for our final AWAY A meet (the last A meet will be at home – and my personal favorite as we honor our seniors). I have attached the hard entries by name and by event and also our cheer buddies. Please be there by 8am or please join the caravan at SHRA at 7:30 to pull out by 7:40

Please do check the jobs list as a few remain vacant…. silently calling your name.

As this is our final away meet, it is also our final chance to gather together for lunch as a team. The lunch-choice-by-committee has chosen The Block as our destination this week. So, we will be leaving the meet and gathering closer to home. The Block is a food hall https://www.theblockva.com/ with options that include doughnuts for kids (you’re welcome, parents) and a bar for adults (you’re welcome, parents). I have reserved a number of tables at 12:30 under my name. I hope to see everyone there.

Pep Rally

Pep Rally tonight will be at 5:45pm. The theme is Cheers and S’mores so everyone please bring chocolates and graham crackers and long sticks for roasting in the big fire pit. See you there.

Relay Carnival recap and All Stars Qualifiers.

With all thanks to our volunteers and swimmers, the relay carnival was fun, quick and well-run. All the teams had some really fast relays and we were witness to 2 NVSL records being smashed (Fox Mill Woods 15/18 Boys). Incredible. A couple SHRA records were also broken and a couple were created. Well done to Annika Wentland, Emma Redman, Anna Reif and Sarah Reif for setting a new 11/12 Girls Medley Relay record with a time of 1:07.48. Congrats also to the 13/14 Boys of Liam, Aidan, Taner and Gavin who set a new 200 Medley relay record with a time of 2:03.93. In reviewing all our team records, we noticed we have never had official records for the 13/14 age group in the 200 free relays (we only swim this at the relay carnival). We are changing that. So well done to our new (inaugural) record holders of the girls 13/14 200 free relay (Catherine Chmura, Allison Adye, Maria Papas and Kaya Shibuya) and the boys 13/14 200 free relay (Patrick Kirby, Gavin, Aidan and Liam). Between fastest swims in the younger teams and first-time relay swims in the older teams, our swimmers are all heart. Kudos to one and all.

We do have a couple relays going to All Stars. The 13/14 boys Medley relay will be seeded 6th and the 13/14 Boys 200 free relay will be seeded 10th. Swim fast Patrick, Aidan, Liam, Gavin and Taner. All-Stars will be next Wednesday close by at Lincolnia Park – please come cheer them on if you find your diary is open.

Woodley Mini-Meet

If you have a swimmer who is 10 & under, you would have received an email on the Woodley Mini-Meet. This is a really fun meet for our younger swimmers. If they would like to swim, please log in and choose their events on swimtopia.

All Teams Senior Lock In

Just a reminder that the senior lock in is Saturday night (7/14) at 9pm through Sunday morning (7/15) at 7am. You should have received a separate email from Sheri Crotty regarding this event. Thank you Sheri for sending.

Until next time (which is hopefully not later today with a date correction!),

Karen and Jamie
